The twelth modification, Chrome Door Handle Recess Trims

I've been after these for quite a while, a very subtle modification, yet the icing on the cake in terms of chrome trim.

Chrome Door Handle Recess Trims, available from PT Company in the UK and various suppliers in the States, are also handy for hiding the scratches that you can't help but get in the door handle recesses (click any photo to enlarge):

The kits are available in either four or five pieces (depending if you want to do the boot deck too), so be careful when ordering that you get what you want:

Each one is individually wrapped and comes with 3M tape pre-applied:

Allow yourself plenty of time for this job, due to the strength of the 3M tape, you only get one shot at applying these things. As they are made from Stainless Steel rather than plastic, I think if you tried to remove one, it would bend completely out of shape and be useless.

This is not a job for someone with an unsteady hand!

As with all things sticky, be sure to clean the area of the car well so it is free from dirt and grease. Apply the trim as carefully, as straightly and as lightly as you can. If possible try to "drop" the trim into the recess so it just about stays in place. Once you're sure of the positioning and you're happy it is lined up correctly, press it home firmly. Be careful not to press so hard that you dent the door skin though!

Some before and after photos of the deck lid:

And of the doors:

Subtle but effective.
